Very Rough Rhyming Picture Book Draft Finished

Just finished a first draft of a new picture book! Yay! It was fun to work on something brand new, which I haven’t done in a little while.

2/15/17: 281 words. Very rough. Thoughts: much too long. Too much detail. I think this would need to be as short as Bad Bye, Good Bye (yikes—that’s only 80 words), because each brief set of rhymes is showing something happen. So way too many “scenes” right now. Need more wonder. Simplify sleeping man and crying sibling or other baby. Still. I think I can work with this as a rough first draft. Whee!

It is so helpful to read about what you are working on and your thought process for revision. It seems like it is a really good way to focus your writing goals every day. I’m going to try this! Thanks!

Your comments are sooo helpful for a story i’m working on from an idea generated from this year’s Storystorm. Wow, that’s a long sentence, but I’m too excited to revise it!
