Sketches! (from Laura’s Morning Pages)

Today, I get to look at some sketches for a picture book coming out in a couple of years. This process is always both exciting and scary–especially if you have a hard time visualizing things, like I do. So I look at black and white pencil sketches and think, “Um…boring.” I’m trying to get better, as I go through this process again and again, about not getting hung up on that! Still, it’s difficult for me to imagine the beauty and drama of the finished art from the sketches I see. One of the many reasons I’m a writer and not an artist. (Lack of any basic art talent would be another reason:>)
